We'll learn a lot more about the city of Findlay's 5-year forecast this month. All of the numbers are expected to be crunched and given to elected leaders so they have a better look at anticipated revenues and expenses over the next few years. Mayor Lydia Mihalik talked about the subject on WFINat10 today, and said the numbers will be available to everyone... (Audio Below)
Mihalik says that cities in Michigan are actually required to put out similar information in easy to read forms and graphs, which she hopes to see happen in Findlay.
Mihalik also talked about the ongoing discussion about the pending fire department layoffs. She says the city continues to look at revenue projections and how they might impact the layoffs... (Audio Below)
Mihalik has said the city and the firefighter's union need to sit down and discuss the current contract. No official talks have been held but Mihalik says informal conversations are taking place. She says in its current form the fire department costs the city around $7 million a year, and the big question is if that number is sustainable.
