A committee of Arlington Council proposed a plan for requiring landowners to install sidewalks. Council's Streets, Alleys and Sidewalks Committee gave an outline for dividing the village into five sections with a goal of completing sidewalk installation by 2018 according to the Courier. Upon receiving a notice from council to install a sidewalk, a property owner would have two construction seasons to comply. Residents facing financial hardships would be considered on a case by case basis. Council took no action Monday and the issue is expected to be discussed at the April 1 meeting.
