Do you want your kid to have a job when they get out of college? Help them learn computer coding. That's the message from the nonprofit Code.org; and a sentiment echoed by the University of Findlay's Dr. Mary Jo Geise. Geise, who is the school's Chair of Computer Science, says the nation is looking at a shortage of skilled computer coders, and the opportunities keep growing... (Audio Below)

Geise says some of the reasons that is the case is because schools have dropped programming classes to meet other requirements, and because Ohio dropped a computer science teaching certification that was dropped years ago. The state has since instituted a new version of the certification.
Even though the classes may not be offered in your local school, it's still fairly easy to access the basics. Geise says Code.org, which is pushing for more coding classes in schools, is a great place to start.
