New Board Created To Address Domestic Violence Issues

Monday, March 11, 2013 - 4:54 AM

A Hancock County task force aims to curb domestic violence incidents. The Courier reports a collaboration of area groups will take the place of a board that hadn't been in operation for several years. The group has been active already, creating a pack of contact cards law enforcement can leave when responding to victims of domestic violence. The cards have information for emergency shelters, protection orders, and court proceedings.

The group also plans to hold refresher training for around 50 law enforcement officers on how to respond to domestic violence calls. In Findlay alone, the police department handles and average of two domestic violence calls per day.
