Putnam County residents will be paying a little less when they go shopping next year. The Lima News reports the county commissioners voted today to allow a quarter-percent sales tax expire at the end of the year. The tax had been approved by voters in 2009. Currently the tax stands at 7%. It will drop to six-and-three-quarters of a percent on January 1 of 2014. The newspaper reports Auditor Robert Benroth said the general budget was in good shape and there was no need to try and extend the tax.
