A 21-year veteran of the Findlay Police Department has been named the officer of the year. The Findlay Police Employee's Association gave the honor to Douglas Akers this year. Akers serves as the property room officer for the department, where he's credited with better organizing of evidence. He has previously worked as a patrol officer and as a detective with the department.
