A handful of protesters gathered outside the Findlay Municipal Court Wednesday morning in an effort to bring attention to Ohio's laws regarding animal cruelty. Seven people were on hand to picket while a man accused of snapping a kitten's neck at Teddy's Rescue was scheduled to have a pretrial hearing. According to the Courier the protest was partially organized by Susan Hollington, who is a co-founder of Teddy's. She told the newspaper that when it comes to animal cruelty, "to break the laws in the state of Ohio, you have to do something huge, because the laws are not that strong."
Yesterday's gathering was sparked by a recent high profile animal abuse case in the area. Timothy Momper is charged with using a prohibited method to destroy a domestic animal. He says he was told to put the kitten down by Missy VanWormer, a former manager at the Findlay shelter.
