Dog Warden Wants Shelter To Stay Open

Monday, March 04, 2013 - 4:56 AM

The Hancock County Dog Warden wants to see the shelter in the middle of a firestorm of controversy stay open. Dana Berger tells the Courier Teddy's Rescue has been a valuable service to the community. He added, "they help us with animals, and we've taken some from them. We try to work hand-in-hand as best as we can."

Teddy's has been in the spotlight since last fall, when a volunteer was accused of killing a kitten by snapping its neck. Tim Mompher is scheduled for a pretrial hearing at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday on a fourth-degree misdemeanor charge for using a prohibited method of destroying a domestic animal.
