DeWine Wants Regulation Of Internet Cafes

The subject of internet cafes in the state of Ohio has been in the news with law enforcement agencies wanting some definitive rules and regulations regarding their existence. Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said race tracks and casinos around the state are regulated..

Mr. DeWine, who was a guest on wfin@10 Wednesday, said some owners and operators of internet cafes are convicted felons and that some of the cash generated from these places is being moved over seas. DeWine said he supported State Representative Matt Huffman of Lima, who sponsored a bill that would basically eliminate cash as a prize from these operations..

DeWine stated that there are about 840 internet cafes in operation around the state and that there should be, at the very least, regulation as far as background checks, pay outs and where the cash is going.
