A Hancock County judge wants to see more money in the state budget set aside for the rehabilitation efforts of criminals. Common Pleas Court Judge Reginald Routson was in attendance at a public meeting held by Representative Robert Sprague and brought the issue to the forefront. Routson told Sprague that real solutions may require more time and money but are the best way to stop repeat offenders. The judge cited the limited funds available for certified counselors and long waits for initial psychological evaluations as two problems.
Sprague told Routson it's an issue he'd like to work on. He added he'd like to see more proactive approaches to handling repeat offenders and reducing criminal related costs in the state.
