Liquor Permit Request Brings State Gambling Issue Close To Home

Findlay City Council took up a request for a D5 liquor permit by Sharp Tops Players Club on Flag City Drive. While a request of this nature is not unusual, a discussion ensued because of the nature of the business. Councilman Randy Ward said denial by council is largely on principal only..

The Ohio Attorney General has been looking into establishments around the state where the line between legal and illegal gambling has not been clearly defined..

Councilman Ward along with the rest of the council members present voted to deny the liquor permit without a hearing and anticipate a decision on the state level with regard to internet cafes and other similar establishments.
