The charges accusing a Tiffin doctor of prescribing medicine without a proper license have been dropped, at least for now. The Advertiser-Tribune reports Seneca County Prosecutor Derek DeVine issued a release that says the indictment against 56-year-old Samuel Christian was dismissed Thursday. The move was made after the expert witness in the case was diagnosed with liver cancer, which will make him unable to testify.
DeVine's office says they will look for a new expert witness, but that person will have to go over the records, which would be impossible to get done before the original trial date of March 4. It could be months before the records are completely reassessed by another witness.
