Local roundup: ONU's Kwiat wins second national title
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Ohio Northern University senior Kyle Kwiat made it look easy Saturday night.

The Tiffin native won his second straight NCAA Division III national wrestling championship by whipping Jules Doliscar of Ithaca (N.Y.) 8-0 for the 174-pound title.

Kwiat, ONU's only four-time wrestling All-American, was dominant in the finals battle between the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the weight class.

Kwiat scored takedowns in each of the first two periods as he racked up 2:08 of riding time for a 4-0 lead heading into the final frame.

In the third period, the Calvert product scored a reversal, got a penalty point after Doliscar locked hands and earned a point for riding time to complete the major decision.

Kwiat (45-3) won the 2012 NCAA title as a junior, finished fifth as a sophomore and fourth his freshman year.
