Girls basketball: No. 1 Big Green tested by Minster
OTTOVILLE -- Minster gave top-ranked Ottoville all it could handle Saturday before the Big Green rallied in the fourth quarter for a 45-43 victory in a girls nonconference basketball game.

Abby Siefker scored eight of her 18 points in the fourth quarter as Ottoville, ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press Division IV poll, came back from deficits of 25-18 at halftime and 34-30 after three quarters.

Taylor Mangas had nine points for Ottoville (15-0). Claire Fischer scored 12 points for Minster (10-6).

ARCADIA -- Arcadia drilled seven 3-pointers in the first quarter, scored 33 points in the first eight minutes and rolled past North Baltimore 75-51 Saturday in a nonconference girls basketball game.

Miranda Palmer and Courtney Cramer each had four 3-pointers and finished with 23 and 16 points, respectively.

Molly Glick nailed three 3-pointers -- the Redskins were 11 of 20 from beyond the arc -- and finished with 19 points.

Glick and Rebecca Kirian each grabbed nine rebounds and Cramer eight for Arcadia (12-3). Palmer had five steals and four assists.

Megan Wright led North Baltimore (8-8) with 14 points. Courtney Bretz had 13 points and Kelsey Gazarek five rebounds.

SYLVANIA -- Christina McQueen scored a game-high 16 points Saturday as Findlay defeated Sylvania Southview 49-42 in a girls nonconference basketball game.

Jacey Hardesty added 11 points for the Trojans (12-3), who used a 30-19 advantage in the second half to overturn a 23-19 halftime deficit.

McQueen's 10 rebounds gave the 6-foot-3 senior a double-double for the game. Taylor Stanford and Nicole Muehl grabbed six rebounds each for the Trojans, who travel to Toledo Whitmer (10-4, 4-4) on Thursday and host Toledo Notre Dame (11-3, 8-0) next Monday in two key Three Rivers Athletic Conference contests.

CONTINENTAL -- Leipsic jumped to a nine-point lead after one quarter Saturday, and that proved to be the final margin of victory as the Vikings downed Continental 59-50 in a Putnam County League girls basketball game.

Only four players scored for Leipsic (10-5, 4-1 PCL) but all were in double figures. Haley Gerten led the way with 21 points, while Amber Gerdeman chipped in 16. Shalynn Morman and Kelly Nadler each scored 11 points.

Vanessa Koppenhofer led a trio of Pirates in double digits with 15 points. Taylor Williamson and Paige Ordway each scored 12 for Continental (10-4, 3-2 PCL).

COLUMBUS GROVE -- Kyrah Yinger led the way with 12 points as Columbus Grove roared back from a deep hole to record a 47-43 win Saturday in a Putnam County League girls basketball game.

Columbus Grove (4-11, 1-4 PCL) trailed 23-14 at halftime and 34-30 after three quarters. A 17-9 edge in the fourth quarter proved decisive. Sydney McCluer and Megan Verhoff each scored eight points for the Bulldogs.

Missy Michel led Miller City (2-13, 0-5) with a game-high 20 points. Haley Lammers had 10 points and Brandi Gerschutz six assists.

PANDORA-GILBOA 58

BLUFFTON 54

BLUFFTON -- Pandora-Gilboa got a tremendous fourth-quarter effort from its bench Saturday and the Rockets came from behind to defeat Bluffton 58-54 in nonconference girls basketball play.

Despite having three of its starters foul out in the fourth quarter, Pandora-Gilboa (10-5) was still able to dig itself out of a 42-35 deficit entering the final period to get the win.

The Rockets made seven 3-pointers in the game, five in the fourth quarter.

Ashley Williams, who scored a game-high 16 points, drained four 3-pointers and Hunter Hermiller, who added 14 points, drilled two. Hermiller also made two important free throws with four seconds left to clinch P-G's four-point win.

Keri Conine also had a stellar performance with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets, who have won five of their last six games.

Sarah Schriner and Sierra Amstutz led Bluffton (9-5) with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Anna Crisp scored all 11 of her points in the first half.

ADA -- Four McComb players poured in at least 14 points and the Panthers put together a solid bounce-back performance and defeated Ada 74-54 Saturday in nonconference girls basketball action.

Kristen Buck made baskets of all sorts and led McComb (11-5) with 15 points.

Emily Clymer, Jenna Huffman and Brenna Dee each scored 14 points. Dee added eight assists and five steals.

McComb was 19 of 32 shooting from the floor including a 5 of 7 mark from beyond the arc. The Panthers also took advantage of the free throw line as well making 21 of 31 freebies.

Taylor Willeke paced Ada (9-7) with a game-high 21 points. Tori Wyss reached a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

MOUNT BLANCHARD -- Riverdale rallied in the fourth quarter but the Falcons fell just short in dropping a 50-49 decision in a nonconference girls basketball game.

Jordyn Wright scored 17 points and had three assists for Riverdale (7-8), which trailed by five points entering the fourth quarter. Ashlynn Walter had eight points and 10 rebounds, Taylor Frey had eight points, and Kristen Evans and Tiffany Wright each scored seven.

Peyton Beachy led Galion (6-8) with 18 points; Bailey Ruhe scored 15.
