Local Sports from The CourierMonday, January 21, 2013Prep track: Swisher wins pole vault at UF high school meetFindlay's Cody Swisher and Leipsic's Holly Aversch won titles in the Division I competition at a high school indoor track and field meet hosted by the University of Findlay over the weekend. Swisher won the boys pole vault competition based on fewer misses after he and Liberty-Benton's Dylan Cornwell both cleared 14-feet. Aversch, a sophomore, took the Division I girls weight throw with an effort of 31-23/4. In the Division II-III competition, Liberty-Benton freshman Michaela Butler turned in an impressive performance in the 60-meter dash, running an 8.08 in the event to finish .2 ahead of any other runner. Liberty-Benton's Kaitlyn Baumlein completed the 800 in 2:33.27 to lead a 1-2-3 showing of area runners in that event, Riverdale's Sarah Hunter went 30-feet, 4 inches to win the triple jump and L-B's Madi Greiner was runner-up in both the mile (5:41.16) and 3,200 (12:07.46). L-B entered the only 3,200 relay team, with Devony Miller, Ashley Frankart, Alli Hunter and Andi Garver claiming first with a time of 12:34.26. Liberty-Benton athletes won two events in the II-III boys field events with Brian Miller clearing 6-4 in the high jump and Chase Cook going 21-2 to win the long jump.
