Local Sports from The CourierWednesday, January 09, 2013Boys basketball: Hornets rally past Lima PerryRAWSON -- Cory-Rawson's Tyler Harris and Grant Risner combined for 43 points and the Hornets, down nine points at the half, staged a gut-check rally in the fourth quarter to edge Lima Perry, 66-64, in nonleague boys basketball action on Tuesday. Harris, a senior guard, nailed four 3-pointers, scored 22 points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out four assists. Risner,a 6-foot-2 junior, scored 21 points, earned a double-double with 11 rebounds, and came up with six steals. Lima Perry used a 23-12 barrage in the second quarter to open a 40-31 lead at the half. Cory-Rawson trimmed that deficit to 55-50 heading into the fourth quarter, then outscored Perry 16-9 to notch its fifth win and reach the .500 mark (5-5) for the season. Bruce Hodges, who transferred from Lima Central Catholic to Lima Perry this season, led the Commodores in points (22), rebounds (8), steals (4) and assists (4). HERITAGE 49 WAYSIDE 32 BUCYRUS -- Lewis Larson and Ethan Houdeshell each scored 15 points Tuesday night to help Heritage Christian record its first win of the season by defeating Wayside Christian of Bucyrus 49-32 in a Buckeye Christian School Association boys basketball game. Larsen finished with a double double grabbing 18 rebounds. Dillon Berry of Heritage contributed 11 points. Sam Berry had two steals and Josiah Long had four assists.
