Girls basketball: Pandora-Gilboa knocks off Grove in battle of Route 12
COLUMBUS GROVE -- Pandora-Gilboa's defense forced 19 turnovers as the Rockets held off Columbus Grove 40-37 Saturday in a Putnam County League girls basketball game that was the regular-season finale for both teams.

Megan Maag led Pandora-Gilboa (17-5, 5-2 PCL) with 14 points and five rebounds, while Keri Conine contributed eight points and five rebounds.

Sydney McCluer paced the Bulldogs (5-17, 1-6 PCL) with nine points.

FINDLAY 75

TOLEDO ST. URSULA 28

TOLEDO -- Five players scored in doubled figures as Findlay High's girls basketball team completed regular-seasson play with a 75-28 Three Rivers Athletic Conference romp over Toledo St. Ursula on Saturday.

With second place in the TRAC standings already locked up, Findlay completed league play at 12-2 and improved to 18-4 overall. St. Ursula fell to 9-11, 2-11 in the league.

Senior guard Nicole Muehl, averaging 16.6 points a game during a regular-season ending five-game winning streak, led Findlay again with 16 points. Senior forward Christina McQueen scored 14 points, junior center Taylor Stanfield had 12 and junior guards Zoe Swisher and Jacey Hardesty added 11 each.

Findlay blitzed St. Ursula 17-2 in the first quarter and blew the game wide open with a 26-6 barrage in the third. The Trojans will next see action at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Division I sectional finals at Otsego High School, where they will face the winner of Tuesday's game between Lima Senior and Anthony Wayne.

LIBERTY-BENTON 47

WHITEHOUSE -- Katie Simon and Rachel Myers combined for 33 points as Liberty-Benton finished the regular season with a 47-32 nonconference girls basketball win over Anthony Wayne.

The Eagles will carry a 17-5 record into the postseason, while the Generals fell to 13-9.

Simon led all scorers with 21 points and Myers added 12 for Liberty-Benton, which held Anthony Wayne to single-digit scoring in each quarter and just 28 percent (11 of 39) shooting. The Eagles also outrebounded the Generals 32-19.

Jasmine Bonivel, Megan Bedard and Sara Zankl each scored eight points for Anthony Wayne.

UPPER SANDUSKY 42

UPPER SANDUSKY -- Lynsey Trusty made 9 of 10 free throws in the second half and led Mohawk to a 53-42 nonleague win over Wyandot County rival Upper Sandusky Saturday in girls basketball action.

The Warriors and Rams both finished the season with 18-4 records.

Trusty, who scored 13 of her team-high 18 points it the second half, scored eight points in the third quarter as Mohawk added to its four-point halftime lead and took a 45-33 margin into the fourth.

Ashley Parker added 11 points and Sarah Runion hit three 3-pointers and added 10 points for the Warriors, who made 14 of 17 free throws.

Taylor Graboski secured another double-double for Upper Sandusky with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Allyson Snyder added 13 points and four assists.

Upper Sandusky was victimized by 17 turnovers.
