Gymnastics: Settlemire-led FHS out to dethrone Clay
If meet results this season are any indication, Findlay High's gymnastics team has quickly gone from challenger to favorite in the battle for the Three Rivers Athletic Conference championship.

Findlay finished a distant second to Oregon Clay in last year's TRAC tournament.

But the Trojans and Eagles have gone head-to-head in three meets and tournaments this season and Findlay has out-pointed Clay in every one.

The Trojans also topped an impressive lineup of teams from the Columbus area by winning the Worthington Kilbourne Invitational in mid-January.

Senior Alexa Settlemire, a two-time state qualifier, will lead the Trojans into competition Saturday when the TRAC tournament is held at the Exceleration Gymnastics Center in Toledo.

Rounding out the field will be Clay, Toledo Notre Dame, Toledo Whitmer, Toledo Central Catholic and Toledo St. Ursula.

TRAC members Fremont Ross and Lima Senior do not field gymnastics teams.

Settlemire won all four events and the all-around title in being named TRAC Gymnast of the Year last season.

Senior Erin Rauschenberg (4th), sophomore Maranda Butler (10th) and junior Tiffany Crawford (21st) also placed in last year's TRAC all-around standings. Sophomore Tori Cox and freshman Leah Thomas have turned in top performances this season.
