Local Sports from The CourierFriday, October 05, 2012Tennis: FHS's Gray, Kelley and doubles team in semifinalsADA -- Two Findlay High seniors and a pair of sophomores prolonged their tennis season Thursday when they advanced to the Division I sectional girls semifinals at Ohio Northern University. Seniors Meghan Gray and Maggie Kelley in singles and the sophomore doubles team of Erin Bosse and Corinne Hoffman also earned a spot in next week's Division I district. The district will begin with the first two rounds Wednesday at Bowling Green State University and conclude with the semifinal and final rounds Oct. 13 at the University of Northwest Ohio in Lima. The top-seeded Gray opened sectional play by blanking Samantha Spackey of Bowling Green 6-0, 6-0 and eliminating Izzy Grove of Maumee 7-5, 6-0. She will face Madie Smith of Anthony Wayne in Saturday's sectional semifinal. Kelley, seeded third, posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Regan Tokes of Anthony Wayne and then blanked Abbey Weber of Maumee 6-0, 6-0 to earn a spot opposite Cassadie Baker of Bowling Green. Bosse and Hoffman, also seeded third, began doubles play with a bye and beat Alena Albright and Beatrice Fields of Maumee 6-2, 6-0. They will face Sarah Jankowski and McKenzie Krieg of Anthony Wayne on Saturday. Division II At Clyde First Round Singles -- Mandy Darr (Bell) def.
