BOWLING GREEN -- Four Findlay High School golfers fired sub-80 rounds as the Trojans qualified for next week's district tournament by placing second in Tuesday's Division I sectional boys tournament at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
Findlay's Eli Stacy and Spencer Shoemaker fired 77s in windy and rainy conditions. Earl Streacker and Trevor St.-Jean added 79s and Mason McCool had an 85.
"We had a pretty good idea what we had to do to advance today. We just needed an average day for our guys but they exceeded my expectations," said Findlay High School golf coach Bob Soellner. "They had a pretty good day today and four scores in the 70s will take you a long way."
Toledo St. John's, led by medalist Luke Campbell's 74, won the tournament with 310 strokes. Findlay was second at 312. Sylvania Northview (322), Toledo St. Francis (323) and Anthony Wayne (326) picked up the other district bids.
